SDK to Raise Prices of High-Purity Gases for Electronics

Showa Denko (SDK) (Tokyo: 4004) has decided to raise prices of its high-purity gases for electronics which are used for production of semiconductor integrated circuits and other electronic materials. Specifically, SDK will raise prices of high-purity gases for electronics by 20% or more as from delivery on January 1, 2022. High-purity gases for electronics are used in the production of semiconductor integrated circuits, LCD panels, and GaN LEDs, as etching gases to produce electronic circuits by creating fine ditches and holes in thin films on silicon substrates, and as cleaning gases to remove unwanted chemical substances that adhere to chamber walls after deposition of thin films on silicon substrates. As […]

Showa Denko’s Subsidiary Establishes a Branch in Xi’an, China and Starts to Sell and Distribute High-purity Gases for Electronics

Shanghai Showa Chemicals Co., Ltd. (SSC), a Chinese subsidiary of Showa Denko K.K. (SDK) (TOKYO: 4004), established a branch in Xi’an, Shaanxi Province, China, and started operation of the branch in December 2020, aiming to strengthen its business to sell and distribute high-purity gases for electronics in China. The new branch is SSC’s third business base in China to sell and distribute high-purity gases for electronics, following those in Shanghai and Wuhan. The demand for semiconductors has been increasing due to the spread of the 5th generation mobile communication systems (5G) and cloud computing services, and increase in the amount of communicated data resulting from the rise in distribution of […]

Showa Denko Starts Service to Measure Performance of Noxious-GHG Removal Equipment

Showa Denko (SDK) (TOKYO: 4004) will soon start a service to measure and analyze performance of noxious-GHG removal equipment, which is used in manufacturing processes for electronic parts including semiconductor chips and LCD panels, as an option for the maintenance work of SDK’s noxious-GHG removal equipment. In processes to manufacture semiconductor chips or LCD panels, various GHGs, such as PFCs*1, are used by manufacturers. These manufacturers are required by the government to treat noxious GHGs emitted from their production lines to make those GHGs’ densities lower than certain levels, calculate the emitted amount of GHGs after treatment, and report that amount to the government. Methods to calculate the amount of […]
